Day 7: Journey to Scotland

Today we braved the light (most of the time) rain and cold and went out to the Royal Mile with hundreds of other performers trying to advertise our show Under the Influence.  Like all the other performers, we did what we could to attract attention to our show.  We did a chant, did a hula, and shouted to anyone who would listen to come to our show.  We also passed out cards advertising our show.  The group was able to meet many people from around the world and while we are realistic that most may not make it to our production, its the one to one contact that was important.  We then did more shopping and had lunch.

Returning to the dorms, the girls held one last rehearsal, while the guys put away last night's left over pizza.  After dinner, we attended the Ceilidh, a Scottish dance . . . kind of like a Scottish Square dance.  Most of the group participated and actually did quite well in picking up most of the steps.  Even our PBS cameraman, Roy Kimura, got into the dance.

It's about time for bed as we prepare for tomorrow's opening performance at the Spaces at Surgeons Hall.  After all we have been through since last Monday, this why we are here . . . to showcase the talents of the students with a worldwide audience.  It will be a bit challenging in that our fellow AHSTF school audience will be riding the bus with us and we have to wait outside with other audience members coming to our show . . . but I know our kids can keep their focus and do a fantastic show.

But it doesn't end there.  After lunch, we return to the Royal Mile to do a 20 minute presentation of Under on a small stage.  We will do a chant, opening of the show, Sam's monologue, and the hula.  Then we go to the Military Tattoo show at the Edinburgh Castle.  We are ready to rock the world tomorrow!
